The Government Digital Service (GDS) is part of the Cabinet Office. It leads the digital transformation of the UK government so that it works better for everyone.
Since its creation in 2011, GDS launched the award-winning GOV.UK, saved the government over a billion pounds, and has grown digital capability across the public sector through the GDS Academy.
We work with departments across government to show how digital ways of working can deliver services that meet the needs of users, save money and improve the efficiency of the public sector.
We’re not just about websites. Among many other things, we also:
- work with the rest of government to make public services simpler and better
- build platforms where users are able to confirm who they say they are
- work to ensure government data is good data, more usable for all
- help departments make better-informed decisions when they need to buy technology
- help departments provide their staff with better value technology that's more of a tool and less of a barrier
Our organisation is full of bright committed people doing incredible work and we aren’t slowing down. Our people are passionate about public service and we pride ourselves on our working environment which is diverse, inclusive and celebrates individuality.
Our work is user-focused, dynamic and forward-looking, making our organisation an exciting and innovative place to work.
We are building our presence in Bristol and Manchester which will become our new Hubs, in addition to London.
We are looking forward to being part of the vibrant digital and technology community outside London, which will help us continue to build a diverse community of talented Digital, Data and Technology professionals into GDS from across the UK.
